If your anything like me, you like to relax in the evening by scrolling through Depop and its endless amounts of preloved treasures. And if it all becomes a bit overwhelming and your at a loss as to where to start here is my rundown. From statement vintage blouses to Y2K knitted twin sets, there is a little something for everyone. So I have saved you all that time and bother and put together a list of my favourite shops and why they need to be on your radar and maybe you too can get yourself a well deserved little treat...
For bright modern and vintage clothing.
This was actually the first seller I ever bought an item off from Depop. I was immediately drawn to way the items were styled and her collection of bright, vibrant clothing for sale. Cathy's Castoffs is home to a great mixture of modern clothing (think a lot of Rixo...) and a generous helping of vintage gold, like that beauty of pink lace dress pictured on the left.
For vibrant, statement vintage pieces.
Here After is a vintage shop on Brick Lane, and like many independent shops at the moment, they have taken to selling on platforms like Depop while they are closed during Covid-19. I am a sucker for a bold 60s/70s slightly psychedelic pattern and Here After certainly delivers. I especially love the two pieces which are so on trend at the moment, and these ones are beautiful and wont break the bank.
For 90s/00s handpicked pieces.
Everyone knows the early naughties are making a comeback in a big way and look no further than Shannon Castro's shop to give you a big old serving of Y2K. If your looking for a jazzy twinset to pair with your micro bag or a cute little cardigan to go with those low rise jeans, this is the one for you.
For those funky one of a kind vintage numbers.
I came across Jinkies Collection after reading an article in Stylist Magazine where Lily Allen breaks down her go to Depop shops. So how could I not check it out? And I was definitely not let down... There is a vast array of vintage items from embroidered cardigans to chunky platform sandals and with stock being topped on the regular, I am constantly refreshing!
For statement 90s shirts.
One of my go to outfits is a vintage oversized shirt tucked into some leather trousers or worn as a jacket over a mini dress. Eliza Likes has so many different types of vintage shirts that I did a little happy dance when I stumbled across the shop. From a slightly more fitted style to shirts that look like you stole them from your older brother, there is most definitely a vibe for everyone.
For a wide variety of colourful 70s-90s clothing.
Selenas Shop is a treat for the eyes with the colour coordinating aesthetic and an endless feed of floaty, feminine pieces. I am completely smitten by her curated collection of vintage dresses especially the pink number pictured on the right!
For unique vintage 80s sport jackets.
I love an oversized 80s sports jacket, I'm talking the colourful, stop traffic kind of jackets. And when I discovered Nova Vintage, my prayers had been answered. Imagine one of these jackets paired with a leather trousers and a white t-shirt or over a little floaty summer dress, that would look pretty damn good!
For all things crochet.
I love a bucket hat, and make that a crochet bucket hat and I'm sold. As summer gets closer and although lounging in the park seems like a wistful dream, one of these hats might make you feel a bit closer to that reality. And I love a bit of 'matchy-matchy', so give me a crochet skirt to go with a hat and you've made my day.
For effortless and chic vintage clothing.
This shop feels like you might be able to encapsulate that effortless cool girl vibe I know I strive for sometimes. That 'I just threw this on..' vibe seems somewhat attainable scrolling through their account. If you too want to channel that cool girl 90s aesthetic, you can't go wrong with Yesterday's Babe.
Soul and Flare
For a mixture of handmade and vintage finds.
With a varied mixture of scrunchies and bags to deadstock and feminine vintage, you are sure to find some right gems. I love the way the items are styled together and serve so much inspiration for my own outfits. Soul and Flare know how to mix vintage with current pieces for a more modern take on secondhand.
