Distancing Diary 001 - Four DIY Face Masks

It's a strange and confusing time at the moment for everyone and while we are all in isolation in our homes, I thought it might be helpful to share ideas and tips on different things you can try at home. In this new series of blogposts I will show you easy and crafty things you can all try from the comfort of your home. One of my favourite things to do in the evening is to put on a face mask and sit back and relax. What makes it even more satisfying, is when you make it yourself with things you will find in your fridge and cupboards. So here are my four favourite DIY face masks that you too can try and hopefully bring a bit of calm to this chaotic time. All these masks I recommend leaving on the face for about 10 - 15 minutes but it can vary from person to person, so theres no right or wrong answer!

For Acne Prone Skin:

Banana, Lemon and Honey Mask

In this current state of things, if your anything like me, your skin will be pretty irritable at the moment and blemishes are becoming a daily occurrence. Bananas have a natural ingredient in them called 'lectin' which can help tackle bacteria and spots. This mask is great for battling those nasty little things and leaving your skin healthier and brighter than ever!

1 banana

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tbsp honey

For Dehydrated Skin:

Oatmeal, Yoghurt and Honey Mask

My skin is craving moisture at the moment and this oatmeal and yoghurt mask is amazing for gently exfoliating and cleansing the skin. This mask will also help with anti-aging and reducing redness. This is one of my all time favourite homemade face masks as it is so thick and gentle on the skin and really feels very luxurious.

2 tbsp oatmeal

1 tbsp yoghurt

1 tsp lemon juice

For Tired Skin:

Honey and ground coffee mask

This mask will definitely wake your skin up and give it that all needed uplifting boost! Coffee grounds is great for removing dark patches and circles on the skin and reducing puffiness. Use this mask at the end of a long week to revitalise your skin and leave it refreshed for the new week to come!

1 tbsp coffee grounds

1 tsp honey

For Irritable/Dry Skin:

Yoghurt, turmeric and honey mask

Although its sunny there is still a chill in the air which means your skin might be a little lack lustre. Turmeric can be deeply hydrating and can quickly remove dead skin cells to reveal soft and healthy skin. People swear by the power of turmeric and you will too after slathering this on your skin!

1 tbsp yoghurt

1/2 tsp turmeric

1 tbsp honey

I'm really wishing everyone health and support at the moment and remember we are all in this together and the more we continue to work together the more we will see progress. Although we have a way to go, I am overwhelmed by the support communities are showing towards each other and for the nurses and doctors on the frontline. Keep on fighting and we will get through this and see the other side.
